2. Southern Dragon Water Puppet Show at HCMC History Museum
Located right next to the Zoo, the Ho Chi Minh City History Museum was the first museum in Southern Vietnam, founded in 1929 (originally Blanchard de la Brosse Museum). With over 90 years of history, it houses tens of thousands of rare artifacts reflecting great civilizations such as Oc Eo, Champa, and Khmer, making it an educational treasure for families and students alike.
Within the museum grounds, visitors can also enjoy the unique folk art of Southern Dragon Water Puppetry.
On its special water stage, lively wooden puppets are skillfully operated to depict folk tales, legends, and scenes of Vietnamese village life. Originating in the North, this art form has been adapted in Saigon with a fresh, approachable touch for southern audiences.
